ABOUT THE BOOK
Grow in faith and maturity, without having it all together.
An invitation for Christians at every stage of faith, whether new to belief or shaped by decades of practice, into a deeper and more resilient spirituality away from religious or institutional pressure.
Rooted in Scripture and pastoral wisdom, with insights from psychology and neuroscience, this book addresses the frustrations of faith and goes beyond the basics of prayer, church life and Bible reading to explore how God shapes and grows us.
Vicar and football chaplain, Sarah Guinness reflects on themes such as sleep, healthy boundaries, living in uncertainty, play and embracing our emotions.
Each chapter invites the reader to reflect more deeply on God’s slow work of transformation in us.
Thoughtful and practical, The Alternative Book of Discipleship by Sarah Guinness is ideal for personal reflection, Lent reading or small groups, with questions included to help readers pause, pray and respond.
BIO
Sarah Guinness has over ten years’ experience in church leadership and is vicar of a large west London parish, as well as chaplain to Brentford Football Club. Before ordination, she worked as an occupational therapist in both local government and the private sector. She spent her early years in Lebanon and has lived and worked abroad before settling in London.
Drawing on her life experience, training in therapeutic coaching and knowledge of the Enneagram, Sarah brings a rich perspective to what it means for Christians to grow in emotional and spiritual maturity.
